Rosary tied Trinity League rival JSerra Catholic on Wednesday to ice the clinching for the first-year MVSC coaches.
“I’m glad BJ and Sean have had success with Rosary,” said MVSC Director Billy McNicol. “They have demonstrated that they are passionate about the game and are committed to the development of their players.”

MVSC Girls Impact their High School Varsity Teams
Jenna Doting scored on a penalty kick to help Foothill High in a high school game against Rosary last week. Doting, a junior forward, is one of several Mission Viejo SC players making an impact with their high school teams.
Forwards Katie Hinman and Cynthia Dimnik join Doting on MVSC's GU-17 team. Hinman and Dimnik helped No. 9 Capistrano Valley to a third place finish in the Excalibur tournament recently. Dimnik has logged two goals with Capo so far this season.
Capo Valley Coach Manny Romero commented, “The girls showed that they can compete against anyone.”
Senior Caitlyn Leonard has contributed to No. 7 Santa Margarita's 8-3-2 season as goalkeeper. Santa Margarita holds first place in the Trinity League with a league record of 1-0-0. Leonard plays for MVSC's GU-19 squad.
Other MVSC girls contributing on thier varsity teams. Foothill HS: Jenna Doting, Kassi Anast, and Carey Centner. Rosary HS: Maria Cebula. Trabuco Hills: Erin Wenzel,Aylssa Ares,Kahley Hickman. University HS: Chiara Galasetti. Capo HS: Katie Hinman and Cynthia Dimnik. Santa Margarita HS: Caitlyn Leonard.
“High school season is great for our players,” remarked MVSC GU-17 coach Sean Melendez, who also helms Rosary High's team. “They train five, sometimes six, times a week and play for the pride of their schools.”

BJ McNicol's Mission Viejo SC BU-14 Titans won their third consecutive division title by taking the Silver Elite South Division. The Titans finished the season with an eighteen game winning streak, solidifying their promotion to the Gold division.
“The boys have done really well,” McNicol said. “They have won three consecutive titles since U12s.”
A number of key performers marked the Titans season, including right defender Adrian Marzella, who was selected for the Cal South Olympic Development camp in December. Central midfielder Kyle Pizanno also had an outstanding season, racking up the most goals and assists for the Titans.
Striker Parsa Rahsepar presented a continual threat in the offensive third. Central defender Reece Maxom held his backline together, allowing the fewest goals against in the Silver Elite South division.
“Although we didn't score the most goals we gave up the least," McNicol said.
The Titans only gave up 11 goals this season, followed by the ISC Strikers with 15. McNicol's Titans will prepare for the upcoming Tournament of Champions in December and National Cup in March.

Sean Melendez's Mission Viejo SC BU-14 Velocity team ran away with second place in the Silver South division. The team finished with an impressive record of 10-2-2, scoring the most goals in their division (31) while allowing the least amount of goals (5).
Melendez referred to four key players as the heart and soul of Velocity, players who contributed to the promotion and overall success this season. Goalkeeper Jeremy Parsons gave up an impressive low of five goals the whole season. Parsons goals-against average was lower than first place Laguna Niguel.
Melendez referred to team captain James Cook as the rock in the middle. Called “JT” by his teammates, Cook played primarily at central midfielder, but also made his debut as an outside midfielder and defender. His versatility established him as the go-to guy on the team.
Forwards Jimmy Ramos and Alex Dena earned a reputation as the most dangerous strikers in the league, perhaps in the county. Both players are quick and talented with the ball.
First-place Laguna Niguel BU-14 White was the only team to defeat Velocity this season. Both times Laguna Niguel beat Velocity 1-0. These two losses tainted the otherwise perfect season for Velocity.
“We believe we can play better,” said coach Melendez. “Laguna Niguel had our number two times this season.”
Velocity has their sights set on State Cup in March, while some players take a break for the high school soccer season. The team looks forward to setting their record straight in Silver Elite.

Mission Viejo SC's Billy McNicol cracked the Top 10 of OC's 50 Most Influential Soccer People.
McNicol is an Orange County soccer legend. He's taken his years of soccer knowledge from the fields of the fabled Glasgow Rangers (who signed him out of high school) to the fields of OC. And many have benefited. The fully-credentialed coach (from USSF, NSCAA and A.C.E.P.) has seen it all through 25-some-years of coaching. His accomplishments include being a member of U.S. Soccer's U.S. Coaching Staff and being a technical director for three different State Youth Associations (Cal South, Utah and Montanta).
When is playing career ended, McNicol coached in Utah. He sent five boys' high school teams to the State Championship podium in six years and followed up with eight straight State Championships with prep girls' teams. He spent nine years as the Region IV ODP Boys' head coach and trained players that would go on to huge careers (including Eric Wynalda, Cobi Jones and Joe-Max Moore). Professionally, he's coached on the L.A. Galaxy staff and helped form the Utah Blitzz of the Untied Soccer League.
In 1996 he took over the U.S. U-16 National team (helping to foster the growth of players such as Landon Donovan) and in 1999 Mission Viejo SC scored McNicol's servies as program director, helping to bring the South County club to power
